CoreCard Software, Inc., previously known as Delos Payment Systems, is a privately-held company based in Norcross, Ga. The company was founded in April 2001 when it spun out of PaySys International (PaySys) prior to the completion of First Data Corporation's acquisition of PaySys and its COBOL-based product line. Comprised primarily of engineers from PaySys' research and development group, the company retained ownership of the intellectual property resulting from PaySys' efforts to develop a flexible software platform and with it re-write its industry-leading, full-featured card management and transaction processing software. CoreCard brought this effort to fruition with CoreENGINE, a real-time universal card transaction processing and lending platform. CoreISSUE, the company's global payment management and card transaction processing system is the first CoreENGINE-enabled application. Previously, the lack of viable and affordable technologies forced card issuers to either continue using in-house mainframe systems that were becoming increasingly expensive to maintain, or outsource this function completely. With outsourcing, issuers had to contend with lengthy contract terms and costly early terminations fees. They also had to accept the lack of product differentiation, no real-time access to customer data and sometimes lackluster service. CoreCard puts control back in the hands of the issuers. CoreCard solutions provide issuers of debit, credit and stored-value card products with alternatives that are easy to use, customize and administer. These solutions offer lower start-up costs, scale with business needs, integrate easily with existing legacy systems and infrastructure and a lower total cost of ownership.
